The Optimal Challenge Point (OCP) — the foundation of all winning ratio recommendations
Research consistently shows that players develop fastest when they win approximately 50–60% of their matches. Winning too much (>70%) means the player is not being sufficiently challenged. Winning too little (<40%) leads to discouragement and dropout. This concept, first formalised by Canadian Sport for Life (CS4L), is now cited by virtually every major tennis federation's development framework — including Italy, France, Spain, Netherlands, and Great Britain.
